DIY Hary Potter Marauders Map Tutorial and Printable from Harry Potter Paraphernalia. This is one of the coolest Harry Potter DIYs I have ever seen. If you like the map, download her free PDF because you never know when something is going to disappear from the internet.
You can see her simplified map for a kid’s party with ideas about making a map of your house on the inside with suggetions like the following:

A tree, especially a Willow tree – Whomping Willow
Basement – Dungeons, Underground, Snape’s Storage Rooms, Potions Classroom
Dining Room – Great Hall
Furnace Room – Floo Network
Garden – Hagrid’s Pumpkin Patch
Kitchen – Hogwarts Kitchens
Living Room – Common Rooms, Dormitories (could call it the ‘Hufflepuff Dormitories’, or substitute the word ‘Hufflepuff’ for Gryffindor, Slytherin, or Ravenclaw)
Shed – Shrieking Shack, Broom Shed
Stairs – Grand Staircase, 3rd Floor Corridor

This is what the printable for the party map ends up looking like:

Rare vintage photograph of an onna-bugeisha, one of the female warriors of the upper social classes in feudal Japan (emerged before Samurai)
An onna-bugeisha (女武芸者?) was a type of female warrior belonging to the Japanese upper class. Many wives, widows, daughters, and rebels answered the call of duty by engaging in battle, commonly alongside samurai men. They were members of the bushi (samurai) class in feudal Japan and were trained in the use of weapons to protect their household, family, and honor in times of war. They also represented a divergence from the traditional “housewife” role of the Japanese woman. They are sometimes mistakenly referred to as female samurai, although this is an oversimplification. Onna bugeisha were very important people in ancient Japan. Significant icons such as Empress Jingu, Tomoe Gozen, Nakano Takeko, and Hōjō Masako were all onna bugeisha who came to have a significant impact on Japan.

Reblogging cause I have way too many dumbasses telling me historically women were never warriors. Uneducated fuckwits

HERE’S JUST HOW MUCH IT PAYS TO BE CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE

We’ve come to expect impossible, even improbable standards of beauty to populate our magazines and our television shows. It’s another thing entirely to find they’ve invaded our workplace.

Watch Vox’s full video to see the many other ways these unrealistic beauty standards effect where we work.

Holy schnikes.

Now let’s just unpack who is “conventionally attractive”

^^^^^^^

#remember when sookie was played by a fat actress and there were literally no jokes about her weight on the show? #remember how she wasn’t defined by her weight? #remember how she got to date and get married and have kids and not be just the token funny fat friend of the main character? #remember when she ~got her life together and was happy before lorelai and that wasn’t seen as threatening?

remember how her insecurities (which she did have, because doesn’t everyone?) had nothing to do with her appearance and were more about her artistic failures, her ability to be a mom, her “annoying quirks” she thought Jackson would get tired of?

remember how even though she was often clumsy forgetful and disorganized she was still portrayed as a competent adult? remember how her decision to get married and have kids didn’t diminish her career as a master chef and entrepreneur? remember how she was a bubbly and funny supporting character without being shallow or unintelligent?
